Keep your financial records

Organise receipts and account records so you can find information when you need it.

Well-kept records help you follow your money and explain a question. Use a paper folder or protected storage on your phone.

Steps to follow

  1. Keep the record and its date

Keep the receipt, transaction message or document you received. Group records by month so the right item is easy to find.

  2. Compare the information

Check the date, amount and description against what you did. Compare receipts with your account statement when it is available.

  3. Note what needs explaining

If something differs, note the date, amount and your question. Keep the original document and ask the SACCO how to follow up.

  4. Protect your records

Store paper records in a dry place. Lock your phone and be careful who receives your documents. This site does not ask you to upload account records.

A planning example

Example: finding a receipt

You have a question about this month’s transaction. Find the receipt in that month’s folder, note the date and amount, and prepare a clear question. Do not alter the figures on the original record.

Your reminders

  • My records have a regular storage place.
  • I checked dates and amounts.
  • I know what I need explained.
